"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. Luke 4:18-19Thank you, Pastor Jamie, for reminding us of where our hope comes from. In the hustle bustle of life, in the comings and goings of our everyday, we forget. We forget to remember that our world would be different without the events surrounding Jesus' birth, ministry, sacrifice, and His resurrection. We forget to remember just who He said He was and what that provides for us today.

At the fall when sin entered the world, our "shalom" was broken, not only as individuals but our entire culture and our entire world. 'Shalom' here means much more than peace, but it means wholeness and well-being. I like to think of it as "being in the zone" with God. We forget to remember Jesus' promise and statement of Him who is the one to restore this 'shalom', not only to us as individuals but also to our culture and to our world.
Now the call for believers is to join Jesus in His work ! As the Father sent Him, so he sends us, to join with Him in bringing 'shalom' to the world. John 20:21 As we move forward in the hustle bustle, in the comings and goings, ask these questions: How can I preach the goodness of God to those who hunger for it? How can I encourage hope and healing to those who are physically, emotionally, spiritually broken? What is one thing I will do or say or be this week to promote 'shalom' in someone else's life?
